About this activity

Experimenting with drawing through the power of touch.

In these sessions we will be making quick sculptures to place around the room. You will then be presented with another person鈥檚 sculpture and draw it from what your hands tell you it looks like!

Investigating the power of touch in these sessions will teach you the endless possibilities of one of Moore鈥檚 favourite drawing techniques: shut-eye drawing.

This workshop is inspired by our Beyond the Visual exhibition at Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, the UK鈥檚 first major sculpture exhibition in which blind and partially blind practitioners are central to the curatorial process and make up the majority of participating artists.

Tickets

Entry is included in an annual ticket. This event is drop-in, so there’s no need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

If you already have an annual ticket, just come along on the day and bring your annual ticket with you.
If you don’t have an annual ticket, you can buy one online or from the ticket desk when you arrive.

An annual ticket lets you return to Studios & Gardens as often as you like, during open season, for 12 calendar months.

Safety & accessibility

Children must be accompanied by adults, to ensure the safe use of the materials on offer during these sessions.

These sessions are suggested at ages 4+, however younger visitors may also take part at their guardians鈥� discretion. The sessions are widely self-led and so designed with all ages and abilities in mind.

Activities can be altered based on the needs of the participant. Please speak to a member of staff in the Learning Studios to request any necessary adjustments.

You might get messy in these sessions, so please don’t wear your best clothes! Sturdy footwear is recommended.

This workshop is subject to availability of materials and space in the Sheep Field Barn. Workshops are frequently busy, so we advise arriving early to not miss out.

Last entry is 30 minutes before the activity closes.

This exhibition in the newly-opened Sheep Field Barn Gallery presents over eighty sculptures made between 1922 and 1986, alongside photographs and archival materials from the Henry Moore Foundation Collections.
